Luther's 1 Thesis

In today's Dinette Set, I fear the reader is adrift in a sea of questions:
  • Luther? Who is Luther?
  • Why does Burl/Luther want to talk to the judge? Is he trying to dodge jury duty with a Contempt of Court charge? Or is he worried about being lonely? Or does he want to discuss the case?
  • Under what emergency situation would someone need an over-sized gavel?
  • Cingular is now paying for product placement?
  • They're making chairs out of screen door material?

i feel "sequestered" is code for "i'm gonna do court panels all week," so here's some dialogue for future episodes off the top of my head:

Judge: Has the jury reached a verdict?
Burl: Yes, your honor: one pepperoni and one extra cheese.
Defendant: Capital, Leroy!

Judge: How do you find the defendant?
Burl: We find him annoying, and pointless.
Defendant: You tell 'im, Gregory!

Judge: Foreman, do you KNOW the defendant?
Burl: Why, is that a problem?
Defendant: Hail Florax!

Oh, by the way: fuck.

JAKE !!!
Sorry, I have a headache!

"Atta boy, Luther!" is a line from the Don Knotts vehicle, "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken."

Knowing this does not add to my appreciation of the comic, however, in that it makes no fucking sense in this context.

Thanks, sourbelly. What an extremely obscure reference. Can't wait to see how many of jake's predictions pan out.
