Meth Addiction

In today's Dinette Set, Burl and Joy defile the countryside as a means to:
  • Make a joke which appears to be commenting on the relative density of housing in a rural vs. suburban setting, which has to counts as one of the oddest topics anyone has ever tried to find humor in.
  • Make a joke out of the difference between ethanol and methanol, which has to count as one of the most arcane topics anyone has ever tried to find humor in.

Well, drag racers use methanol fuel in their car, I believe. But that is an obscure joke indeed. A few years ago, Indy cars ran on methanol, but nowadays they run on ethanol.

Why does the Penny clan warn tailgaters with a bumper sticker on their front bumper?

I'm just so confused by this comic.

I think this Dinette Set is a socio-economic commentary on the deleterious effects of corporate farming by such giants as Archer Daniels Midland which is driving the traditional family farm to the brink of extinction.

Wait, no, not that. Maybe it's just stupid.
